|
| Davina worked at a swim school for 9 years while completing her high school diploma and university degree. She began teaching several clients privately in back yards in 1998. Over the next 5 years, demand for her services increased and she decided it was time to make it a full time, all-year- round venture. In 2003, she established her private swim house by designing her own pool specifically to facilitate a positive swimming environment for teaching. Despite her experience and vast resource of knowledge, Davina still feels it is important to actively teach. As such, she has mastered a unique teaching method that takes a very hands-on approach. By directly teaching each student and specifically addressing his or her individual needs each swimmer is able to enhance their swimming abilities at an exponential rate. Davina’s Swim House has a low 3:1 ratio for all her classes up to the leadership levels. Even in the leadership classes there is still a low teacher-to-student ratio. Since the opening of her own swim program her business has grown progressively which can be attributed to her successful teaching style and standards. |

| In 2005, Davina and her husband Geovanny, joined forces to help with the first expansion of their swim school from one to four locations. In 2011, Davina and Geovanny invested in a new location and built another salt water pool. This location at Keele and Major Mackenzie was specifically selected to serve the swimming needs of the greater Toronto area, Vaughan community. Despite this growth Davina has continued to uphold her original teaching style that she established back in 2003. With the help of Geovanny, Davina continues to meticulously train all of her staff to ensure they are following the Davina Swim House approach to teaching and together they are able to maintain the highest standards of safety while meeting the individual needs of every swimmer. |

| At Davina's Swim House our goal is to make every swimmer enjoy his or her lesson. At the same time we would like to have them become proficient swimmers. In doing so, we can ensure they will be safe in and be able to stay afloat around the water. In addition to improving upon strokes we feel it is important for our swimmers to become knowledgeable on lifesaving skills. We pride ourselves in keeping up to date with the most current lifesaving guidelines and having instructors constantly re-certified and trained to ensure they are teaching current Canadian Red Cross standards. |
